Personal Reflections on Parental Incarceration

My dad was incarcerated (or as we called it “away”) for six months when I was seven.

I spoke with no one about the experience until my twenties, leaving me with a series of non-linear but very specific memories associated with objects. Some of these objects lead to long stories and some only lead to a few sentences, but I hope they bring to life what the experience was like for me as a child.
